In this video, Derek Whisenhunt from 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 takes us through the step-by-step installation and power testing of the 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗞𝗦-𝟰𝟯 8ft offshore antenna, beautifully paired with a Garmin 215 AIS VHF radio.
Key Highlights from the Build:
𝗖𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗖𝗡𝗖 𝗙𝗮𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: To ensure a flawless, seamless fit for the Garmin unit, the mounting panel was custom-cut using a CNC machine for maximum accuracy.
𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: During the final transmission test (with engines off), the Scout antenna registered an impressive 𝟮𝟭 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 — outperforming the 18 Watts typically seen on baseline setups.
